Merit Based Scholarships

Rising sixth through 10th grade students new to Spartanburg Day School can compete for variety of merit-based scholarships during our Scholarship Saturday competition held each February.

The scholarship competition for the 2018-19 school year will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10, at 9 a.m. Interested families must pre-register for the competition by clicking here. The application deadline is Tuesday, Feb. 6.

Five Scholarship Opportunities

Ben Stone Fellows Scholarship

  • 75% scholarships open to rising 7th-10th graders new to SDS
  • Renewed annually to students in good standing.
  • Candidates must possess a strong desire to be academically successful and a desire to actively participate in service organizations and projects.

Visual Arts Scholarship

  • 50% scholarships open to rising 8th-10th grades new to Spartanburg Day School.
  • Renewed annually to students in good standing.
  • Candidates must demonstrate an avid interest in pursuing personal growth in the arts, be prepared to lend a helping hand to arts programming, and maintain a strong academic record.
  • Portfolio review and observational drawing date to take place in February.

Music Scholarship

  • 50% scholarships open to rising 7th-10th graders new to Spartanburg Day School.
  • Renewed annually to students in good standing.
  • Candidates must demonstrate an avid interest in pursuing personal growth in music, participate in the school's performing ensemble, and maintain a strong academic record.
  • Individual audition dates to be scheduled with the Band Director in February.

Head of School Scholarship

  • $2,000-$5,000 scholarships open to rising 6th-10th graders new to Spartanburg Day School.
  • Renewed annually to students in good standing.
  • Candidates must demonstrate exceptional academic ability and potential for leadership and service.
