Arts Gallery
Exhibits, Performances and Residencies
Weaving, photography, jazz, dance, opera and drama are all likely to appear on the schedule of events hosted at the Mildred Harrison Dent Fine Arts Center. Our program includes visiting artists performing for all three school divisions, as well as our own students performing original works of music, drama and comedy for their peers.
Funding from the Mildred Harrison Dent Endowment for the Arts, The Muse Machine and the Arts Partnership of Greater Spartanburg provides more than 20 special events each year. Students of all ages benefit from valuable learning opportunities through visiting artists, traveling exhibits, artists-in-residence programs and professional performances. This designated funding greatly enriches the daily lives of our students and our school community, without increasing school tuition.
Mildred H. Dent Endowed Faculty Chair
The Mildred H. Dent Chair for the Arts honors Millie Dent’s devotion to the arts and her dedication to the Spartanburg Day School. The Chair seeks to reward and recognize an outstanding member of the SDS Art Department. This endowment was made possible by an anonymous gift to the school. This chair is presently being held by Nancy Corbin, coordinator of the Dent Fine Arts Center.
