There is nothing as special to a child as having a book read to them! That is what happens in every library class. Students are exposed to a variety of authors and their literature through books, periodicals, and videos. Students benefit from visits from professional story tellers, authors and illustrators. During library time, students are taught how to research using the internet, OPAC and DISCUS.

Our library has a large selection of books for students to use for academic enrichment and personal enjoyment.

Our library staff coordinates the Accelerated Reader Program. Special parties and an end-of-the-year carnival help motivate students to read, read, read! The Lower School regulalrly earns over 12,000 Accelerated Reader Points - points awarded for reading books- demonstrating how much children truly love to read at Spartanburg Day School.
