Community Service

2010_LS_Community

In recent years the Lower School Community Service Project has been integrated with the 4th Class International Baccalaureate Exhibition Project. It is the accumulation of the IB experience in the Lower School and it makes us realize the significant impact the IB program has on our learning. It was a 6 week research project where the students took on the main responsibility for their learning. Their central idea is that people need to take responsibility in their community to make it a better place. Students study children’s hunger issues, abandoned, lost and injured animals, and what happens to recyclable and non-recyclable trash. Students do their own research, pland presentations for their parents and the Lower School, and then take ACTION!

They can organize a community service project for the entire Lower School. Students have picked up trash on our campus, brought in canned food for the Soup Kitchen and supplies for the Foothills Animal Rescue. All students enthusiastically joined in the 4th class community service project. Life lessons were learned, and our students know that they can make a difference in their community!
