Go For It Griffins

Life in the Lower School is a wonderful experience for our students because our children are respectful and caring of each other.  Being a “Good Griffin Student” is something that everyone aspires to.  Students strive to live by the honor code.  The following is the Lower School Honor Code:

I Am Honorable

I will respect others.
I will tell the truth.
I will not cheat.
I will not take things that
don’t belong to me.

Each student is proud to belong to the Go For It Griffin Citizenship Club.  We have five GFIG assemblies a year and it is a time to celebrate our good citizenship and superb school community.  One of our favorite celebrations is the Red & White game.  The Upper School basketball teams play a game for us as we cheer them by waving pom-poms and posters.  After the game, the students get autographs from the basketball players, the cheerleaders, and the school mascot, Spartacus.  Character education is an important aspect of everything we do in the Lower School.

The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program has character education as its corner stone.  We live by the IB Learner Profile and IB Attributes because these are the attributes and traits of a caring, global citizen.

Our students are inquirers, thinkers, communicators, risk-takers, knowledgeable, principled, caring, open-minded, balanced, and reflective. The Lower School students strive to live by these IB Profiles.

The IB Attitudes are very familiar to all students as we reflect on ourselves, our class, and as we study our curriculum.  The IB attitudes are: tolerance, respect, integrity, independence, enthusiasm, empathy, curiosity, creativity, cooperation, confidence, commitment, and appreciation.
