International Baccalaureate - The Primary Years Programme

The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) is designed for students aged 3 to 12. It focuses on the total growth of the developing child, touching hearts as well as minds and encompassing social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic development.

The PYP draws on world-wide research and best practices, to create a relevant, engaging, challenging and significant educational framework for all children.

Schools wishing to offer the Primary Years Programme must be authorized by the IB Organization. The process is the same for all schools throughout the globe. To become eligible for authorization, schools must successfully complete a number of stages.

Spartanburg Day School is currently a Candidate School, implementing the Primary Years Programme and working to become fully authorized by the IB Organization in 2006.
