Technology
Technology at Spartanburg Day School is fully integrated with the curriculum, and students move forward at a fast pace. Our technology lab is a fitting venue to deliver a 21st century education. Classroom teachers and the computer specialist plan the curriculum together and then work to instruct students in the lab.
“We have fun in computer and learn a lot at the same time.”
Caroline Graham, class of 2015
Lower School children publish hard covered books, do spreadsheets and graphs, make mind-maps and brochures, and create power point presentations. They use digital cameras and learn how to scan photos for projects. Even our youngest children are taught to draw in Kid Pix and they quickly learn how to navigate programs with ease.
Research skills begin in 5K and evolve through 4th grade, in preparation for more advanced instruction as they transition into Middle School. Lower School students learn how to safely and effectively use the internet; they are instructed in utilizing OPAC, DISCUS and other media resources for their research projects.
Classrooms often schedule additional time in the technology lab as needed, and make full use of this essential component of the school’s program.
