5th Grade
Like each of the years in the middle grades, the fifth grade involves several important transitions for the students and the structure of their experience at school. Helping students navigate these physical, emotional, social, and academic challenges effectively is a primary focus of the fifth grade teachers. Through advisory, class time, and other interactions with students, teachers seek to model and encourage effective work habits, supportive interactions with others, and positive responses to difficult situations. They seek to establish a sense of community among teachers and students and provide a solid foundation for students as they move through the middle grades.
