The First Annual SDS 5K Run will be held at Milliken Park in Spartanburg, S.C., in April 21. All proceeds benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Upstate, a mentoring program for at-risk children in the community. Upper School students have participated in the program for many years.
The 5K is sponsored by ASTRA, the SDS Upper School Girls' Community Service Organization.
Registration will begin at 7:30 am and the 5K will begin at 9 am. Please arrive by 8:30am to ensure proper registration time before the race begins.
The 1 Mile Fun Run for ages 10 and under will begin at 10:00am. At registration, participants will receive their t-shirt and number. Food and drinks will be available for purchase throughout the morning. Prizes will be given to the 1st place winners (male and female) in each age division, and other items will be raffled throughout the event. Free parking will be available on site. There will also be inflatables, carnival games and face painting for kids as well as entertainment for the family.
The cost is $20 for the 5K ($25 day of the race) and $10 for the Fun Run ($15 day of the race.) You can register online at www.bbbsupstate.com.
