Dear LS Parents,

Last week was nice with a bit of a slower pace than the previous week with Homecoming! Students enjoyed singer/songwriter Roger Day on Monday and really got into the music! Ms. Kim was even called up on stage to be a superhero! She has great superhero skills, as you can see from the picture above!

We enjoyed seeing all of the 4K dad's at Donuts with Dad on Thursday- all seemed impressed with their fabulously decorated ties the students made for them. What a special day!

This week is a big week with the 100th Day of School, Watershed Ecology Center visiting 1st and 4th grades, Groundhog Day, a performance by the Tarradiddle Players for 3K, 4K, K, and 4th Grade Speeches at Converse College. Re-enrollment also begins on Friday. 3K-3rd Grade Parents: Please don't forget to mark your calendars for our parents only Drop-In Fly Up Night on Feb. 15 between 6 and 6:45. You will be receiving an invitation in the mail soon!

Bundle up this weekend, it's going to be a cold one! Stay well...

Just a reminder from the Math-a-Thon committee:
Thanks to all students and parents who have worked so hard studying and raising money for Math-A-Thon! As of today, Groblewski House is in the lead!!! They are followed by Clark, Skipper, Donnelly, Johnson and Dorrance. There is still time to collect donations and move your House to the lead! Will YOUR House win?

Please continue to turn in completed donor sheets if you have not done so already. The committee is busy tallying all the donations and will update students to collect outstanding donations and double donation pledges (if applicable). If you have questions about any online donations, please contact Tricia Barr at parent.tricia.barr@sdsgriffin.org

Students are encouraged to continue to ask for donations through the deadline of February 10th.

Dear LS Parents,

Homecoming was so much fun! Our students really enjoyed all of the excitement and and activities, and they showed great Griffin spirit! Please see note below from the Math-a-Thon committee:

Hello and thank you for all you are doing to remind and encourage students to participate and raise money for Spartanburg Day School's first Math-A-Thon! With the end date just days away (1/25), we hope that the students are out there fundraising for our school.

Based on what has actually been collected thus far, the House rankings are as follows:

Tied for 1st Place so far are Johnson and Skipper

They are followed by: Groblewski, Clark, Dorrance and Donnelly.

Please continue to encourage students to participate and raise money for the Parents' Club and our school!

Thank you so much for your support!

Tricia Barr and the Math-A-Thon Committee

Don't forget that donations can be made online at: www.spartanburgdayschool.org/support/make-a-gift Simply select Math-A-Thon from the drop down menu. Then select the student that you wish to support. Please share the link with family and friends!

Also, please mark your calendars for the Lower School Fly Up Night drop-in on Wednesday, February 15 from 6-6:45. Fly Up Night is a parents only event that provides an opportunity for you to meet the teacher(s) for your child's upcoming school year. For example, parents of students in the current first grade, will visit the second grade classroom to meet the teacher(s) and hear about the curriculum at a glance and special events that occur at that grade level. This gives a sneak peak about what your child(ren) will experience next school year! We will provide light refreshments in the hallways on that night. We hope to see you there! Students will get to experience their own Fly Up on the morning of Friday, February 10 for about thirty minutes. They will get to explore next years classroom(s) and meet the teacher(s). We anticipate a lot of excitement!

Best,

Ashley
