In the Upper School at Spartanburg Day School, students may choose to run for either Class Office or a Key Committee slot. Class Officers work exclusively with their respective classes, while Key Committee members represent the school as a whole. Both groups work throughout the year—often together—to plan school social opportunities and annual events. They also target areas of student life which they would like to enhance or revise and ultimately make recommendations to the Upper School administration. Elections (for all but 9th grade) are held in the spring before the school year in which the students plan to serve, and each school year begins with a student leadership orientation. Below is the list of offices that make up the Student Government Association of the Upper School:
- President & Vice-President of the Student Body
- Secretary of the Student Body
- Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary of rising 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Grades
