Spartanburg Day School is currently seeking an Athletics Media Coordinator and Head Varsity Girls Lacrosse Coach for the 2026-2027 school year.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Athletics Media Coordinator and Head Varsity Girls Lacrosse Coach is a dual-role position that supports the growth, visibility, and excellence of Spartanburg Day School athletics while leading and developing a competitive girls lacrosse program. This role works under the direction of the Director of Athletics with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Strategic Marketing & Communications Manager to ensure alignment with institutional branding, messaging, and strategic communication priorities.
Athletics Media Coordinator Responsibilities
Strategic Alignment
- Collaborate with the Strategic Marketing & Communications Manager to align athletic storytelling with school-wide branding and enrollment priorities
- Ensure athletics content reflects Spartanburg Day School’s mission, voice, and visual identity standards
- Coordinate athletic campaigns that support admissions, advancement, and institutional visibility
Content and Digital Management
- Coordinate athlete headshots and facilitate media days across all sports
- Create, manage, and maintain official athletics social media platforms
- Develop engaging content including game day graphics, final scores, highlight reels, athlete spotlights, college commitments, and award recognition
- Maintain and regularly update the athletics webpage
- Assist with photography and video capture at games and events
Communication and Collaboration
- Collaborate with coaches and staff to collect timely and accurate athletic information
- Support internal and external athletic communications
- Coordinate department-wide promotional campaigns and postseason recognition
Program Head Girls Lacrosse Coach Responsibilities
Leadership
- Provide overall leadership and direction for the varsity girls lacrosse program
- Cultivate a positive, athlete-centered culture aligned with Spartanburg Day School’s mission and values
- Facilitate skill focused practices to drive continuous improvement and team growth
- Implement off-season training and development plans
- Promote multi-sport participation consistent with SDS philosophy
Development
- Oversee middle school lacrosse alignment and pipeline development
- Coordinate scheduling of games, practices, and team events
- Organize camps, clinics, and community engagement initiatives
Community and Culture
- Foster strong relationships with student-athletes, parents, faculty, and alumni
- Emphasize sportsmanship, character, and leadership development
- Model and maintain high standards of conduct in alignment with school and athletic department policies
- Represent Spartanburg Day School professionally within SCISA and the broader lacrosse community
KEY STRENGTHS & QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Degree in Communications, Sports Management, Education, or related field preferred
- Master’s degree preferred
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level preferred
- Experience managing digital media platforms preferred
- Background as a competitive lacrosse athlete preferred
- Experience in an independent school environment is a preferred
