Spartanburg Day School is currently seeking a Middle School Academic Support Faculty for the 2026-2027 school year. This position calls for a dedicated educator to will be passionate about empowering students in 5th to 8th grade to build their confidence and develop the skills they need to succeed academically and beyond.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide one-on-one and small-group academic support for students in 5th to 8th grade.
- Help students develop essential organizational and executive functioning skills tailored to their unique needs.
- Plan, organize, and deliver instruction to help students build study strategies, content mastery, and other relevant competencies.
- Maintain confidential, accurate records of student support and individual student progress.
- Ensure students understand and can fully utilize their accommodation plans.
- Actively participate in the school community beyond the classroom.
- Participate and contribute to professional meetings, collaborative planning, and community activities.
- Serve as an advisor to a group of students.
KEY STRENGTHS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in teaching from an accredited institution or related field, required
- Master’s Degree in education from an accredited institution in Education, preferred
- State teaching license, preferred
- Orton-Gillingham Training, preferred
- Have experience working in an academic support environment, preferably with middle school students.
- Be knowledgeable about best practices for supporting students with learning differences and executive functioning challenges.
- Possess content knowledge in teaching reading, writing, math, and study skills.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Create a supportive, positive learning environment that inspires student growth.
- Build meaningful relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
- Exhibit a deep passion for helping students grow both academically and personally.
- Interest in coaching a sport or leading a club.
