Spartanburg Day School is currently seeking a Head Girls Lacrosse Coach for the 2024-25 school year. Spartanburg Day School opened its doors in 1957 as the first independent school in Upstate South Carolina. More than 65 years later, our unique community provides approximately 545 students in grades 2K-12 with an unparalleled educational experience. The Head Girls Lacrosse Coach plays a critical role in leading and shaping the girls lacrosse program focusing on player development, competitive success, and overall program excellence. This program is a new addition to the athletic department; coaching grades 6th to 8th and growing to a varsity program by 2028. This role will also have an additional teaching assignment, which will be determined based on education and experience.
The Head Coach responsibilities will include; overall leadership and direction of the girls lacrosse program, lead all aspects of coaching, player development, game strategy and analysis, recruitment, talent identification and compliance. The teaching assignment will include, but is not limited to, plan and develop age appropriate course of study, adhering to educational best practices and Spartanburg Day School curriculum guidelines, designs individual lesson plans using a variety of teaching techniques that appeal to various learning styles, build and maintain positive relationships with parents and participates in faculty development, in service opportunities, workshops and faculty meetings.
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited University. They will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and motivate students, previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level, and a commitment to promoting sportsmanship, teamwork and character development.
