Why I'm an SDS Griffin...
I was drawn to Spartanburg Day School because of its commitment to nurturing the whole child through a thoughtful, inquiry-based curriculum. As educator, I value strong foundational skills taught in a joyful, encouraging environment. The small class sizes at SDS allow for deeper connections, more individualized instruction, and a stronger sense of classroom community—all of which are essential for young learners to thrive. From my very first visit, I felt the warmth of the SDS community and knew I wanted to be a part of a team that values both academic excellence and emotional development. This is a place where students are seen, supported, and inspired—and that’s exactly the kind of school I wanted to teach in.

Why I do what I do...

I believe in the power of early education to shape a child’s future. Helping children learn to read is my greatest passion—there’s nothing like seeing their confidence grow as they unlock the world through words. I do this work to build strong foundations, spark a love of learning, and support each child as they discover their potential.

My husband and I have been married for 26 years and have two children—a 24-year-old daughter and a 21-year-old son. We are passionate dog lovers and share our home with a Rottweiler and a Wire-Haired Pointing Griffon, who bring endless joy to our family. In our spare time, you’ll often find us camping or traveling, or me curled up with a good book.
