Professional Experience

I’ve tutored math and physics at the high school and college level since 2010 and have been a swim coach since 2013. Taught geometry at Hargrave Military Academy’s summer program in 2018.

Why I do what I do
I want students (and everyone, really) to see that math is about making sense of things. Often, finding “the answer” is barely the point – what we’re interested in is the why. Curiosity and creativity are the essential tools of mathematicians. Without these, the whole endeavor is reduced to aimless rule-following.

I like juggling, learning languages, fumbling around on the piano and ukulele, swimming, running, trying to get better at chess, figuring out how computers really work, and reading all of the books I should have read in school. Also math, obviously.
