The talents of Natalie Daise are well known on the Spartanburg Day School campus. As a visiting artist, her impactful performance art and storytelling has impacted many students through the years, and now, as the artist behind the newest visual arts exhibit hanging in the Mildred Harrison Dent Fine Arts Center Gallery, her passion for storytelling is reaching a broader audience.
Since before there was a Spartanburg Day School, co-founder Fred Dent saw its mission clearly. For more than 60 years, he was an unwavering champion and sage counselor, remaining very much involved in the life of the school until his death Tuesday afternoon at age 97.
On the front lawn of Spartanburg Day School Monday, hundreds of flags waved in the breeze. Military vehicles and their drivers – uniformed veterans – greeted curious students from preschool to high school for most of the morning, following a meaningful all-school Veterans Day assembly honoring the men and women of the armed forces.
