Spartanburg Day School senior Ellie Toler is one of approximately 16,000 semifinalists in the 65th annual National Merit Scholarship Program, according to a release by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). The nationwide pool of semifinalists, representing less than 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest scoring entrants in each state. Semifinalists have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million that will be offered next spring.

Seniors Grace Kleman and Rachel Summers were also honored by NMSC as commended students. Although commended students will not continue in the 2020 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, they placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.5 million students who entered the competition by taking the PSAT.

Congratulations to Ellie, Grace and Rachel!
