Spartanburg Day School Boys Basketball To Compete In State Tournament Saturday

The Spartanburg Day School boys basketball team has qualified for the South Carolina Independent Schools Association Class 3A state playoffs and will take on Florence Christian School on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 3:30 p.m.

The Griffins will face Florence Christian at Wilson Hall School Gym A in Sumter. The winner will advance to play St. John’s Christian in the second round on Tuesday, Feb. 24. The state semifinals will be played Thursday, Feb. 26, and the state title game will be held at the Sumter Civic Center on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 6:30 p.m.

In other SCISA 3A first-round games this weekend at various locations, First Presbyterian battles Williamsburg, Spartanburg Christian faces Hilton Head Prep, and Greenwood Christian goes up against Orangeburg Prep. In addition to St. John’s, other squads receiving first-round byes include Calhoun Academy, Christian Academy, and Colleton Prep.

The Griffins have qualified for the state playoffs under first-year head coach Caleb Jordan, whose leadership has helped guide the program to a postseason berth in his debut season.

Ticket prices for the first-round games are $12 each for adults and $5 each for students.
