Spartanburg Day School is proud to announce that Leslie Shealy, Preschool and Lower School music teacher, has been awarded the Outstanding Young Music Educator Award by the South Carolina Music Education Association (SCMEA).

This prestigious award recognizes and honors an SCMEA member who has been teaching for four to seven years and has demonstrated excellence in music education. It highlights educators who have made a significant impact on their students and school community through dedication, innovation, and leadership in the field of music education. Shealy graduated from the Petrie School of Music at Converse University in Spartanburg, South Carolina with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and a Master of Music in Music Education projected to be complete in 2026.

Shealy’s passion for teaching and her commitment to fostering a love of music among young learners have made her a standout educator. Her engaging approach to music instruction enhances students’ musical abilities and instills confidence, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
