Joined by family, teammates, teachers and friends, Spartanburg Day School senior Camrynn Wilson committed Monday to swim at the University of California, Los Angeles.

At SDS, Camrynn has been an integral part of the Griffin swim team’s success for the last seven seasons, five of which include SCISA state championships. Individually, Camrynn has claimed more than 10 SCISA state championship titles. She holds 10 team records and has been named team MVP for the last six years.

Outside of school, Camrynn is ranked No. 1 in swimming in the South Carolina Class of 2023. She is a YSSC National Team Member and has qualified for the Speedo Winter and Summer Nationals, is a US Open qualifier and was ranked in the top 10 in the 2022 Long Course YMCA National Results in the 200 Free, 100 Free, 100 Fly and 50 Free.

“SDS has been a home to me for 12 years, and I couldn’t be more excited to be taking the next step in my academic and athletic journey here,” Camrynn said. “I cherish the memories and relationships that I’ve developed during my time on the SDS swim team, and I am ecstatic to be continuing my career at UCLA.”

Varsity Girls Swim Coach Ashli Gaines said she is thrilled to watch Camrynn continue developing her skills at the collegiate level.

“I have had the pleasure of coaching Camrynn most of her Griffin swim career,” Gaines said. “Camrynn is a fierce competitor and a wonderful teammate. I can’t wait to watch her continue her swim journey as a Bruin!”

Athletic Director Joy Couch added, “Camrynn always puts a smile on her teachers’ faces works hard and to the best of her ability. We look forward to following her future successes in and out of the pool as she attends UCLA in the Fall.”
