Spartanburg Day School

Fresh off a dominant state championship performance, Spartanburg Day School placed three golfers on the 2026 South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) All-State Boys Golf Team, highlighting one of the top seasons in program history.

Davis Petty, Matthew Roff, and Kingston Linder each earned All-State honors after leading the Griffins to the SCISA Class 3A boys golf state championship, which was secured Tuesday at The Hackler Course at Coastal Carolina University.

Spartanburg Day, led by head coach Todd White, captured the title in commanding fashion, finishing 25 strokes ahead of runner-up Hilton Head Preparatory School. The Griffins posted rounds of 290 and 291 for a two-day total of 581, leading wire-to-wire in the eight-team field.

The All-State selections reflect Spartanburg Day’s dominance at the 3A state tournament, where the Griffins swept the top three individual spots. Petty claimed medalist honors with a two-round total of 135, including a tournament-best 66 in the final round. Roff and Linder each finished tied for second at 146, completing a sweep atop the leaderboard.

Across all SCISA classifications, Hammond had four All-State selections, while Spartanburg Day, Trinity Collegiate, and Heritage Academy each placed three golfers on the team. Hilton Head Christian, Augusta Christian, and Northwood Academy each had two selections, with several other programs represented by one honoree.

Additional contributors to the recent state championship for Spartanburg Day included A.K. Milner, who finished with a 154, and Reid Hines, who posted a 161, as the Griffins relied on balanced scoring throughout the two-day event. The tournament format counted the top four scores each day toward the team total.
