Spartanburg, SC – Spartanburg Day School is proud to announce the establishment of the Dorrance Grants for Faculty Enrichment, made possible through the generous support of Mr. Chris Dorrance, former Head of School from 2001 to 2012. The grants aim to support faculty members in pursuing personal and professional growth opportunities beyond the scope of traditional professional development, including travel, special programs, or projects related to their areas of expertise.
"The Dorrance Grants for Faculty Enrichment embody our commitment to fostering a culture of lifelong learning and personal growth," said Dave Skeen, current Head of School. "We believe that supporting our faculty in their pursuit of unique and meaningful experiences ultimately enriches the entire Spartanburg Day School community and translates into an even richer academic experience here on campus.”
Teachers from all grade levels at Spartanburg Day School who have completed at least two years of service are invited to apply for the Dorrance Grants for Faculty Enrichment. Eligible candidates should demonstrate a commitment to the school's mission and independent education philosophy, as well as a history of collegiality, leadership, and the sharing of educational expertise.
"Our faculty members are at the heart of what makes Spartanburg Day School special,” said Mr. Chris Dorrance. “I’m thrilled to give back to a community that shaped my career and to provide faculty with the opportunity to pursue their passions. These grants are a way to encourage the kind of personal enrichment that has a lasting impact, not only on educators but also on the students they inspire."
Applications for the Dorrance Grants for Faculty Enrichment are open now. Recipients will share their experiences with the Spartanburg Day School community through publications and presentations, contributing to the school’s vibrant culture of learning.
