Spartanburg Day School Students Secure Chair Placements in Region and All-State Band

On January 18th, 2025 Spartanburg Day School students participated in the South Carolina Band Directors Association (SCBDA) Region 6 auditions at Boiling Springs High School in Spartanburg, SC. The Region Band auditions, held across six regions in the state, are among the highest honors a middle or high school musician can achieve. With over 300 students auditioning in Region 6, We are proud to announce that Spartanburg Day School had 8 students receive chair placements in the SCBDA Region Band and two students receive chairs in the 2025 All-State Band. All-State auditions were held on February 1st at Lexington High School in Lexington, SC.

Junior Band:
Kathryn Spivey, Clarinet, 8th Grade
Mabry Patterson, Trumpet, 8th Grade
Landon Bailey, Trumpet, 8th Grade
Gianni Rostan-Johnston, Trumpet, 8th Grade
Clara Matz, Tuba, 8th Grade

Clinic Band:
Shan Zhang, Clarinet, 10th Grade

Senior Band:
Mary Franklin Gilman, Clarinet, 11th Grade
Mya Ferguson, Bass Clarinet, 12th Grade

All-State Band:
