Griffins playing in SCISA Region 1 AA Tournament Monday

The South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) Region 1 AA Basketball Tournament will be held Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 13-14, in Spartanburg at Wofford College's Ben Johnson Arena.

Teams from Spartanburg Day School, Spartanburg Christian Academy, Oakbrook Preparatory School, Greenwood Christian School and Shannon Forest Christian School will be playing for the region championship, and ultimately a place at the SCISA state tournament, beginning Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Sumter Civic Center.

"This tournament is an opportunity to showcase our region's best teams and athletes – on both the boys' and girls' sides – to our community," said Chris Arp, SCISA Region 1 AA basketball representative. "I anticipate a great atmosphere with great crowds showing up to cheer on these teams, so the level of excitement from all the programs involved is incredibly high. We always look forward to the spirit of camaraderie and competition this two-day tournament brings."

Tickets to the region tournament are $7 for adults and $5 for students and will be sold at the arena entrance on the day of play only. Tickets will not be sold at the Wofford Box Office or at any of the participating schools. Sales will begin at noon both Monday and Tuesday and will be cash only; no checks or credit cards will be accepted.
