A:Some of my most cherished memories from high school are homecoming and Halloween. Being able to come together as a grade and compete truly elevated my experience at the day school as well as further connecting our grade.
Q:How has SDS helped you grow academically and personally?
A:Academically, SDS has taught me how to manage my time efficiently while emphasizing the importance of working hard and being diligent with my schoolwork. Personally, SDS has taught me important life lessons and taught me skills that will inevitably be valuable as I transition into college.
Q:What are your plans for after graduation?
A:I plan on attending Duke University and majoring in either biology or neuroscience. After college I hope to go to med-school and work my way up to becoming a doctor.
Q:How did your experiences at SDS prepare you for your next chapter?
A:SDS has allowed me to be challenged academically and learn how to handle rigor. In addition to preparing me for the course load of college, SDS has also taught me the importance of seeking help when needed and establishing meaningful relationships with my peers and teachers that will prove to be helpful next year.
Q:What advice would you give to incoming freshmen at Spartanburg Day School?
A:Don’t take your first few years of high school for granted and stay on top of your work. In addition, don’t overload yourself with classes and allow yourself to have some fun. Make sure to soak in every year at the day school because it truly flies by.
Q:What will you miss most about Spartanburg Day School?
A:Definitely all the friendships I’ve made. I’ve been at the day school since I was 4, so I’ve known many of the people I’m graduating with my whole life. It’ll definitely be a hard goodbye.
Q:What are some of the unique aspects of the Spartanburg Day School experience that you'll take with you?
A:Some of the most unique aspects would be the amount of school spirit and how close we are as a community. Homecoming, Halloween, and grade level activities bring out the school spirit in everyone and truly brings the day school community closer together. As I progress through college I’ll always hold the importance of community at the top of my priorities.
Q:What are some "hidden gems" of Spartanburg Day School that you think future students know about?
A:One of my favorite “hidden gems” is definitely Coach Cooper’s gym. Although right next to the basketball courts, many people don’t know about the openness and availability of the fitness gym. I’ve created some valuable memories there and it’s definitely a place to check out. The gym is where I would spend most of my afternoons after school and it’s a positive space that allows you to challenge yourself and have some fun with friends.
