Greenville, S.C.- The Spartanburg Day School Equestrian team were back in action over the weekend as they competed at the Riverbed Invitational in Greenville.
On Saturday there was a first place finish for Caroline Maude Hedges as she won the Future Intermediate Flat competition. Eight grader Hedges also had a sixth place finish in the Future Intermediate over fences.
In the varsity competitions Paige VanGeison had a second place finish over fences and tied fourth place with Elizabeth Smith in the open flat. Smith was also fourth over the fences. Emma Hay rounded of the varsity competitors with two sixth place finishes over fences and in the open flat.
In the Junior Varsity Beginner flat competition Lara Mallen was fourth while Virginia Thomas had a fifth place finish in the Future Novice over the fences.
Sterling Hunt performed both on Saturday and on Sunday. Hunt had two fifth place finishes both days in the Varsity intermediate over fences and a fifth place finish on Saturday and a second place finish on Sunday in the Varsity intermediate flat.
Overall it was a good outing for the Equestrian with all the riders gaining valuable experience in competition.
The team will be back in action in the Regional competition on February 5th which will be staged at Harmon Field.
