Spartanburg Day School's weekly newsletter Week of May 4 A NOTE FROM OUR HEAD OF SCHOOL: Happy May Day
Happy May Day! The first day of May always signals the last stretch of another school year. And in that stretch, we have a lot of celebrating to do at every grade level and division. Our school's calendar is filled with year-end performances, field days, celebrations, AP exams, final exams, senior traditions and last-time moments for our class of 2020. Sadly, we're not together on campus to take part in all of these beloved opportunities (well, our students might differ on final exams being in the beloved category) and so some of these are being scheduled for a later date. We are in agreement that the value of being together when we can do so safely overrides keeping an original date or modifying in a way that takes away from the event and our time together. Our leadership team and faculty have a singular mission of making every remaining event and celebration one to remember and so the planning and revisions are all underway with adaptations as required.
Today would have been a much-loved day for our seniors – a day when they parade through our halls in caps and gowns, take a formal class photo together, and sign the traditional college banner, circling their college or university of choice. For understandable reasons, that can't happen as we all hoped, at least not today. Alternately, you'll notice the photo above of faculty members wearing shirts bearing their alma mater's name...
DROP A NOTE TO OUR AMAZING FACULTY!
Next week is Faculty Appreciation Week. Let's continue to show our faculty some love. Use the comments section on our #dayschoolatadistance web page (spartanburgdayschool.org/covid-19) to say hello. Leave a word of encouragement or thanks. Let them know how you're doing.
