FLAG THE LAWN THIS VETERANS DAY
Interact Club's annual Flag the Lawn event will be held on Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11. The boys' service club is once again selling flags for students to place in the lawn at school. Order flags in advance using this form or purchase flags the morning of the 11th. If you would like to purchase a flag in honor or memory of a veteran, please make a note on the form with the person's name and branch of service.
Interact is selling flags in three sizes: small ($5), medium ($20) and large ($100). All proceeds will be donated to Upstate Warrior Solution, a nonprofit organization that connects warriors and their families to resources and opportunities.
Please pay by cash or check (made payable to SDS with "Upstate Warrior Solution" in the memo line).
SHOP THE INTERACT YARD SALE SATURDAY, NOV. 16
The annual Interact Club yard sale is coming up Saturday, Nov. 16, 10 a.m-2 p.m. It's expected to be bigger than ever, and at a new venue! This year's sale will be held at First Piedmont Bank, 901 E. Main St.
If you still have items you'd like to donate to the sale, the club is collecting household items, clothing, toys, furniture and more. To schedule a donation, call Susan Owens or Laura Gramling. Proceeds from the sale will be used to resod ARCH ministries' after-school program soccer field.
A NOTE FROM THE NURSE: FLU SEASON IS NEAR!
With fall underway, sick-season is setting in. The flu has started up in the community, but we have no known current cases at Spartanburg Day School. Many viral infections spread from person to person and cause flu-like-symptoms. Parents can help us by getting your children to the doctor and reporting their diagnosis to the school. Please follow our fever guidelines: 24 hours fever free, without the use of fever-reducing medication, before returning to school.
NOMINATE YOUR FAVORITE GRIFFIN ATHLETE OR COACH FOR THE SPORTS HALL OF FAME!
Nominations for the Sports Hall of Fame are due Nov. 24. The induction of a new member will occur during Homecoming festivities on Feb. 7.
Members are instrumental to the success of the athletic program with notable athletic achievements within the Griffin community and beyond. Sports Hall of Fame members should exhibit sportsmanship, athletic excellence, versatility, character, leadership and commitment. Nominees must be a coach, former coach or a former SDS student athlete who graduated high school at least five years ago.
