Dear SDS Learning Community,
The phrase "never a dull moment" can be overused, but I would posit that it is nearly always applicable at SDS. This week has been full and culminated with a day that was bursting. After a touching display of love for Ms. Wickie on Administrative Professionals Day and an especially heartwarming Spirit of the Griffin ceremony this week, I didn't think it could get much better. However, this morning I found myself at an incredible Farmer's Market in our 3s classroom purchasing homemade bread, flowers, and lemonade, which they produced as part of their "How the World Works" IB Unit. Afterwards, I walked over to Milliken Gym, where I watched a performance featuring square dancing AND recorders playing Eye of the Tiger by Survivor. After this, I was able to sit down with my Lower School students and walk through each of their IB folders, displaying their work for the year. In the afternoon, I witnessed a physics demonstration on wavelength, discussed the merits of cross-curricular design, and checked in on the success of our track team at yesterday's regional meet.
We are committed to a holistic educational experience, and if a week like this is any indication, then we are doing an exceptional job of making it happen.
Have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
