Dear SDS Learning Community,
While it's a gloomy Friday outside, the festive season is upon us! Prior to Thanksgiving Break, our Seniors and their Kindergarten buddies connected and made ornaments together for our new Christmas Tree in the Senior Courtyard between the library and Milliken Gym. Yesterday, they came together to trim the tree and officially start the season for Spartanburg Day School. The excitement in the air was palpable and shared by all. There is no other place where our children can experience something like this in a school setting, and it is what makes us so special.
Our Lower and Middle School children knowing their Upper School friends so well is a unique marker of our community of trust, and it is why we are seeing more and more of our friends at sporting events over the years. We love that they can come and support our JV and Varsity teams outside in the Fall and Spring and inside in the Winter. If I might interject a brief aside and request: if your children do ask to come and watch our basketball games, please remind them to remain in the gym area and to understand that the lobby and corridors are busy areas, so running around to play tag, etc. does create a safety hazard. I know our players love hearing their cheers and seeing the crowd's excitement during the game, and having as many students in the stands only adds to that atmosphere.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and Go Griffins!
Sincerely,
Dave
