From Head of School Dave Skeen

February 7

Dear SDS Learning Community,

Our faculty are about to go pick up dinner from the Parents’ Community as a finale of Teacher Appreciation Week, and what a week it has been! This has to be one of the best weeks of the year for our educators. We are truly a lucky group that has been showered with appreciation from all corners. Please know how grateful we are for you all, the parents, that you have trusted us with your children on their journey to lives well lived.

One of the defining characteristics of our 2K through 12th grade model is our low teacher-student ratio. This fosters a deep sense of connection not only between our teachers and their students but also between the school and our families. In a week like this, that connection is bolstered - not just from the Whataburger or Tom’s coffee, but from the tokens of care, the short note, and the bright flower on the desk. Thank you for this wonderful week.

Also, I wanted to point out the new weekly overview section we added to the bottom of this email in response to feedback from the All Parent meeting earlier this week. We hope that will be a helpful snapshot of the upcoming week. We appreciate those who attended and shared their thoughts. If you weren't able to make it to the meeting, videos of each speaker are posted on the Parents' Community Facebook page. I hope you'll take a few minutes to watch them - you'll be amazed at all that's going on across our Divisions!

Enjoy your weekend and the incredible weather while it lasts.

Sincerely,
