Dear Spartanburg Day School Learning Community,
Spring is here—and not because we leave for Spring Break today. The energy level on campus has come up a notch or two. Certainly, the number of activities seems to have picked up. Varsity Boys Tennis has had three matches in a week, our Upper School students concluded their volleyball tournament, the 3rd and 4th grades competed in our inaugural Geography Bee, our 3K students caught leprechauns, our 6th graders participated in their Ball and the 7th and 8th grades had their dance, OH! and we administered the PSAT on campus.
In many ways this time of year is the payoff for a year of hard work in classrooms and hallways on campus. Students have grown in such tremendous ways that the opportunities for formative (and summative) assessments or demonstrations abound because they are ready to show off what they have learned. Hard work will pay off this spring. It is an important lesson for our young people to internalize, and the cadence of the school year provides the framework for that lesson.
As you all go off to relax and rejuvenate, I hope you will consider how far we have come and enjoy the “payoff.”
Sincerely,
