Dear Spartanburg Day School Learning Community,

As the 2025-2026 academic year comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on what a truly wonderful year it has been for Spartanburg Day School. From the classroom to the stage, from athletic competitions to fine arts programs, our students have continued to impress us with their curiosity and creativity. This year has been filled with memorable moments, meaningful accomplishments, and the daily joy of watching our students learn and grow together.

Today’s All-School Field Day was a perfect example of the spirit that makes our school community so special. Students across every division spent the day enjoying games, laughter, friendly competition, and time together as one Griffin family. Seeing students encourage one another, cheer each other on, and simply enjoy being together on campus was a wonderful way to celebrate the close of another successful school year.

Earlier this week, we also celebrated two special milestones during our Moving Up Day Ceremonies at Barnet Theatre, recognizing both our fourth graders as they prepared for Middle School and our eighth graders as they looked ahead to Upper School this fall.

As we look ahead, we are excited to celebrate one final major milestone of the year, the graduation of the Class of 2026 during our 63rd Commencement Ceremony next Friday, May 22, at 9 a.m. in the Senior Courtyard. We are proud of our 42 graduating seniors, who will continue their academic journeys at 30 different colleges and universities across the country. We are also honored to welcome Spartanburg Day School alumnus Matthew Poliakoff, Class of 2016, as this year’s commencement speaker.

Just a quick reminder that today is the final day to complete our quick, anonymous parent survey. If you have not yet shared your feedback about the school year, the survey link can be found above this note in the newsletter.

To our students, families, faculty, staff, and supporters, thank you for making this such a meaningful and memorable school year. I hope each of you enjoys a restful and rewarding summer, and I look forward to all that lies ahead for Spartanburg Day School.

Sincerely,

Dave Skeen
