Dear Spartanburg Day School Community,
Fall is here and with it comes the excitement of the change of season. At SDS it means we are closing out the first quarter of the academic year. As we look back on our start it is sometimes helpful to use snapshots of the student experience to help frame what it means to provide a superior educational experience. Here is what I’ve seen:
Our Upper School Theatre Troupe came together to put on an incredible show, Sleepy Hollow, replete with cackling witches, headless horsemen, alternative endings, and spookiness galore.
Our sports teams are showing out in our SCISA playoff divisions: Middle School Boys’ Soccer concluded a successful season as the #2 seed in their association tournament. Girls Golf came in fourth place amongst sixteen teams, and Poppy Dawson ‘28 won the individual championship with a two-day score of 142. Our Varsity Girls Tennis team is in the state finals versus Hilton Head Prep tomorrow and our Boys and Girls Swim Teams head to Charleston for the SCISA Championship Meet looking for another state championship.
Our 4K Moms enjoyed Muffins for Mom where their children presented them with portraits and narratives about who they are - cuteness all around.
The Middle School had their first Spartanburg. Day. and School team challenge in a raucous game of Simon Says. This is the first in a series of competitions that will be the talk of the middle school this year.
Ms. Shealy continues to manage about fifty balls in the air as it relates to our new 2nd through 6th grade musical rehearsals for Annie Jr.
As you can see, we’ve been busy and a fall break is just what we need. Please enjoy this time away and we look forward to seeing you all when we return.
Sincerely,
Dave
