Dear Spartanburg Day School Learning Community,
With our second full week of classes now behind us, the rhythm of the school year is beginning to feel familiar. Classrooms have settled into routines, teachers and students are getting to know one another better, and the deeper work of learning is taking hold.
Today’s College Colors Day brought some extra energy to campus. Throughout the school, students and faculty represented colleges and universities meaningful to them, while our Lower School students received a special welcome from student-athletes from Converse University and Wofford College. It was a wonderful opportunity for our youngest Griffins to connect with college students from our own community and perhaps begin imagining where their own educational journeys might lead.
That spirit of discovery extends to the arts as well. I encourage our families to experience FELT: Functional Beauty, a solo exhibition by Cecilia Ho, currently on display at the Mildred Harrison Dent Fine Arts Center Gallery through October 15. We also look forward to welcoming our community for a reception celebrating the exhibition on October 6.
As the school year gains momentum, it is rewarding to see our students embracing all that happens each day at Spartanburg Day School, both inside and beyond the classroom. We are off to a strong start, and I look forward to seeing how our students continue to learn, grow, and challenge themselves in the weeks ahead.
I hope everyone enjoys a fun and safe Labor Day weekend. We look forward to having our entire SDS community back together on Tuesday.
Sincerely,
Dave Skeen
Head of School
