Week of March 30

Dear Upper School Parents & Students,

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Spring Break! It’s hard to believe that we only have six weeks left in the ‘25-’26 school year. This time of year is often bittersweet as we prepare to celebrate endings while simultaneously planning for new beginnings. I’m looking forward to experiencing the upcoming Day School traditions for the first time–what a special and exciting time of year!

I’m pleased to be able to share some photos and celebrations with you from the past few weeks–since we haven’t posted Griffin Days since March 6, there’s a bit to catch up on!

Six Upper School students competed in the regional Ethics Bowl competition at Wofford College in late February. To prepare, they read and discussed 15 case studies, each highlighting an ethical issue or dilemma. They debated a diverse range of topics, including charity, artificial intelligence, zoos, and genetic enhancement. Day School students performed impressively, winning five matches and advancing to the final round. They ultimately finished second in the region. Thank you to faculty coaches Dr. Fisher and Mr. Ferre for their guidance!

Upper School Chemistry students enjoyed modeling the concept of stoichiometry with a delicious s’mores lab–although the proper graham/marshmallow/chocolate bar ratio was certainly a lively topic of debate!

Finally, Upper Schoolers were delighted to welcome a group of 4th graders to assembly earlier this week. Great job to the 4th graders who shared about their exhibition!

We are beginning the process of creating the master schedule for next year. Students should have turned their course request form into their Grade Level Dean before Spring Break. If there are any forms that have not been turned in, please submit them as soon as possible!
