Week of November 10

Dear Upper School Parents & Students,

Today marks the halfway point of the 2nd quarter. With two weeks until Thanksgiving break, the semester is rapidly flying by!

This week, Upper School students enjoyed a visit from Marcus Amaker as part of the Dent Poetry and Prose series. Marcus is Charleston’s first Poet Laureate, an opera librettist, and an Academy of American Poets fellow. Thank you to Mr. Wynn and Ms. Mitchell for the opportunity to hear spoken verse!

On Wednesday afternoon, 41 SDS Upper Schoolers left to attend the annual Youth in Government conference in Columbia. As of the writing of this post, students were actively presenting and debating their bills! As such, I’ll have more updates in next week’s edition. Thank you to Ms. McGrath, Dr. Duncan, Ms. Sullivan, and Dr. Fisher for all the work that they did to help our students prepare and for chaperoning the trip!

Senior Parents: Senior ads orders are now available. Please place your order by November 14 to ensure space is reserved for your Senior. To place an order, please check your email for a message from yearbook@sdsgriffin.org, or click here to access the online order form.
