Dear Upper School Parents & Students,

It’s hard to believe that there’s only one week left of October! The semester is certainly flying by. This week was a busy one–filled with athletics, college rep visits, trunk-or-treat preparation, Halloween decorations, graduation orders, Special Studies planning, and the traditional Fall Senior/Faculty lunch. The weather was absolutely perfect for this special event–thank you to the Senior Parents for a delicious meal! 

The link for Special Studies sign-ups was emailed to parents on Monday evening @ 7:30 PM. We will start working on placing students soon, so parents should be sure to submit student preferences ASAP. 

Thank you to the parents who came to campus for the Parents’ Community All School meeting on Wednesday. As I mentioned during my remarks, I am excited to announce that the Day School, in conjunction with St. Joe’s Catholic School in Greenville, will be hosting our inaugural Collegiate Case Studies Program for our 10th and 11th grade students on Tuesday, January 20. With this partnership, we are able to bring representatives from Auburn University, Bucknell University, Denison University, Dickinson College, Mississippi State University, the University of Tennessee, and let families hear expert advice from the former President of NACAC, which is the National Association of College Admissions professionals. The majority of the program will be spent in smaller break out groups with our admissions guests, and will allow families to evaluate applications in a simulation exercise of how they are reviewed. We are so excited to bring a program of this caliber to the Day School and look forward to the superior experience that it will provide for our families. 

Quarter 1 report cards posted this past Wednesday. We hope that you value the feedback provided through the narrative comments. Please reach out directly to the teacher if you have any questions surrounding a grade or comment.
