Dear Upper School Parents and Students, 

It’s been a wonderful week in the Upper School! The Griffins have certainly been busy–the past week was filled with enthusiasm, effort, and energy. 

While the week included a tremendous variety of activities (everything from Club Fair, to Senior Sunrise, to athletics and arts, to YIG and Interact), I particularly enjoyed the time that I got to spend in classrooms. Topics included the Declaration of Independence in AP Government, Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby in AP English Literature, graphing functions in Calculus, and syncretism in AP World History–much of which I needed a refresher on! And, throughout the flurry of daily Upper School life, I am continuously delighted by the ways in which our students and faculty purposefully pursue a superior education.

Looking forward to the week ahead, here’s what is on the horizon for the Upper School:

• Monday, September 1: Labor Day–No School!
• Wednesday, September 3: Parents’ Night @ 6 PM in the Dent
• Thursday, September 4: Griffin Grounds Grand Opening in the Library @ 7:30 AM
• Friday, September 5: Deadline to add a new course

Fall sports have an eventful week planned–as always, keep an eye on the team calendars for the most up-to-date information. I’m also pleased to share that various college representatives will begin visiting campus this next week! Demonstrated interest is an important metric in the collegiate admissions process, so students should be sure to connect with representatives of interest when possible. 

Lastly, I encourage us all to embrace our commitment to a life well lived as we usher in Labor Day weekend–a welcomed respite and opportunity to enjoy what is forecast to be an absolutely beautiful three days! I look forward to seeing everyone in September!
