Camp Griffin is the summer answer for students of all ages and interests. Half- and full-day options are available for rising 3K-12th grade Spartanburg Day School and non-SDS students alike.

Learn about robots and computer programming; set your sights on STEM activities; test out your soccer skills; or embrace your creative side. Sign up for one week of fun, or plan to stay all summer long. The options are endless.

Camps typically start at just $115 per week, and there are extended day options for campers from rising 3K through 5th grade.

Week of May 29

Griffin Day Camp: Minute to Win It

You’ve got a minute to win it! We will take on several challenges using household items with 60 seconds on the clock. We will wrap up the week with collaborating and designing our own household games. Are you up for the challenge?

Week of June 4

Griffin Day Camp: Hooray for Hollywood
Ages: Rising 3K–5th

Lights, Camera, Action! We are shining bright like the stars in Hollywood. We will walk the red carpet, create our own Star of Fame, and design our own Golden Globe trophy. Look out, Hollywood — here we come!

Trolls: Bring Your Happy!
9am–Noon
Ages: Rising 3K–5K

Come for a fun-filled week of everything Trolls. We will create art and eat snacks, play games and dress up like trolls, and have a wonderfully happy week!

Coach Bob’s All-Sports Camp, Session #1
Full Day: 9am–3:30pm / Half Day: 9am–Noon

Ages: Rising 5K–8th

Coach Bob Allsbrook emphasizes the importance of sportsmanship as girls and boys develop their individual skills and teamwork. We play so many different types of games like Dodgeball, Black Out Tag, Frogs & Ants, Survivor, Soccer Bowling, Parachute, Fruit Basket, Steal the Bacon, and much, much more. Awards and daily prizes, with lunch provided for full-day campers. Morning-only campers are also welcome from 9am–noon.

Soccer Night Training, Week 1
Tuesday / Thursday, 6–7:30pm
Ages: Rising 2nd–12th

Description: As soccer grows in popularity, the needs and wants of the soccer player expand at an equal if not higher rate! Recreational and competitive soccer enthusiasts are both welcomed for a series of action-packed and fun Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Come all thru June, or just pick your sessions!

Cost: $20 per night

Griffin Day Camp: Pirates on Parade
Ages: Rising 3K–5th

Ahoy, mateys! Captain Jay has heard of all the treasures hidden on Griffin Island and has just docked nearby. We need your help to find the treasure first before his crew does. Avast, we will design our own pirate ships, find out our pirate names, and will wrap up the week with a treasure hunt.

Calling All Superheroes

Calling all Super Kids! What's your superpower? Let's make a cape and a symbol just for you! Come and let your super grow in power this week!

Hair, Nails, and Make-up!

Come for the magic of pretending with pocketbooks, baby dolls, jewelry, dress up, and makeup! Come have fun just being a girl!

Let’s Get Knitty!
9am-noon
Ages: Rising 6th–12th

Whether you already know how to knit or not, we'll have a project for you! Beginners can choose from smaller crafts or even basic fingerless mitts, and those who already know the knit stitch will get to choose from a hat or cowl project, or choose their own. Everyone will have yarn and needles provided for several smaller projects ~ and for fun!

Rev It Up with Robotics!
9am - noon
Ages: Rising 4th–8th grade

Imagine it, build it, and make it go! This week, girls and boys will explore the exciting world of robotics, with campers’ imaginations fueled and powered by the LEGO Mindstorm vehicles.

Griffin Day Camp: Around the World in a Week
Ages: Rising 3K–5th

Welcome, explorers! Grab your passports because we are off on an adventure of a lifetime! We will go around the world in 5 days to learn about fascinating food, making music, and amazing art from other cultures. We will even make our own instruments, as well as trying out new recipes.

A Little Bit of Everything

Are you an artist, engineer, or master builder? Or all of the above? Let's find out during this week of crafts, creations, and play, with a little bit of everything!

Griffin Day Camp: Circus Celebration
Ages: Rising 3K–5th

Come one, come all to the Greatest Camp of All! There is fun for all ages, from testing your strength to feeding the elephants and even walking the tightrope. We will play different carnival games and create costumes for our circus we will perform at the end of the week. Are you ready to celebrate?

Coding with Music and Sound
9am–Noon
Ages: Rising 4th–8th

Description: Using Scratch, a coding platform for kids, campers will use the computer to play musical notes, create a music video, and build an interactive music display while learning how programming is used to create music.

Ages: Rising 3K–5th

Create. Experiment. Explore. We will do all sorts of hands-on investigations in a variety of scientific fields. We’re talking earth science, physical science, and robotics. Science is everywhere — come discover with us!

Description: This week will offer adventures galore as we dive into the wonderful world of books! We will be reading some classics and eating some delicious, book-inspired recipes each day. Finding some new favorite books, while also whipping up kid-friendly treats.

Under the Sea

Ages: Rising 3K–K

Explore under the sea with arts, crafts and more! Discover shells, ocean life, and maybe even a mermaid — all that the deep has to offer with this fun-filled week.

Ready, Set, Let’s Go to 1st Grade!
9am–Noon
Ages: Rising 1st

Description: 1st grade is right around the corner, so let’s brush off our summer skills and get ready for the new year. Reading, writing, and math will be the lessons of the week, all mixed in with some good old fashioned-fun!

Let’s Get Ready for 2nd Grade!
9am–Noon
Ages: Rising 2nd

Your second grade year is almost here. Join your friends for a week of reading, writing, and math. We will complete two book projects, play number games, write stories, and more!

Week of July 23

Griffin Day Camp: Space is the Place
Ages: Rising 3K–5th

Join us on a journey through the galaxy as we rocket into outer space! We will learn all about constellations, paint our versions of Starry Night, and travel through the Universe!

Under the Big Top with Ms. Kim & Ms. Jan

Ages: Rising 4K–1st

Description: Come join Ms. Kim and Ms. Jan for a week of fun "under the big top"! Our clowns will have a week-long circus adventure filled with tricks, crafts, and treats.

Coding with Video Game Creation
9am–Noon
Ages: Rising 4th–8th

Campers will learn basic video game coding concepts using Scratch, a coding platform for kids, and make different types of games, including racing, platform, launching, and more!

Week of July 30

Griffin Day Camp: Mountain Adventures
Ages: Rising 3K–5th

We'll bring the outdoors inside while hiking around campus and learning how-to's for surviving in the wilderness. Campfire games, songs, and other activities will help build leadership and new friendships...and maybe we'll even roast some marshmallows!

Going Green Science Camp with Ms. Trish
9am–Noon
Ages: Rising 4K–1st

Our little campers will get to do all those fun experiments that Mom doesn’t always get to offer at home, like making homemade elephant toothpaste and giant bubble snakes, writing in invisible ink, and taking Plaster of Paris animal tracks. We’ll create beautiful garden stepping stones and tie-dye science t-shirts. We will learn all about the soil, and each junior camper-scientist will build a "wormery." We will discuss insects and make creative bug jars that the kids can continue to use the rest of the summer ~ we will even learn how airplanes fly with ping pong balls and toilet paper.

A Meal A Day with Mrs. Burtnett

Ages: Rising 6th–8th

Each day of the week, campers will create a meal to eat for lunch. Some items may be taken home at the close of each class, as we learn to make such standbys as chicken pie, quiche, spaghetti, pound cake, and more.

Disk Golf Adventures
9am–Noon
Ages: Rising 4th–9th

Frisbees + Golf = Fun! Campers will learn the rules and terminology of Disc Golf and practice tips each day. SDS's new disc golf course works its way around the edge of campus and provides campers with opportunity for individual and/or group competition. Discs will be provided.

Early Drop Off
Allows you to drop off your camper between 8–9 a.m., Monday through Friday before camps begin

From Noon-1 p.m., Lunch Bunch provides parents with pick-up OR drop-off flexibility for the week (and a calm time to eat with pals between morning and afternoon camp sessions). NOTE: Campers bring their own lunches.
