Camp Griffin is the summer answer for students of all ages and interests.

Open to SDS AND non-SDS students
* registration is for the rising grade and should reflect the student's grade for the upcoming 2021-22 school year

WHAT:
From cooking to coding, arts to athletics, Camp Griffin's 2021 lineup of offerings is sure to appeal to students of all ages and interests.
- Camps operate daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with early and late stay options from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Half- and full-day options are available for 2K, 3K and 4K campers.

Lunch selections provided by the Griffins Table are included in the cost of camps, as are morning and afternoon snacks.

Fun with Fairy Friends

Campers will create fairy houses and cottages while learning some wonderful tales and stories about this magical world. They will also make their own magic wands and fairy lanterns as well as other fairy crafts!

Paw Patrol Pals

All paws on deck! Join the crew and learn about safety and the roles that firefighters and police officers play in our community. A guest police officer with stop by for a visit with his police dog! Firefighters will join us with a firetruck to explore. Fun games and Paw Patrol inspired crafts will fill your camper’s day!

Taste the Rainbow

Experience the five senses through food exploration! Each day campers will sample and prepare a variety of foods in every color of the rainbow! Campers will create food art projects throughout the week and will also discover basic kitchen skills such as measuring and mixing.

Racers, Start your Engines!

Rev your engines and get ready to race! Toy car drivers will speed, slide, and spin through race-tracks and obstacles. Campers will design garages to refuel and have friendly competitions, all while learning the science of acceleration!

Buggin’ Out

Explore the amazing world of insects! Through hands-on investigation and fun crafts, campers will learn all about bugs! They will observe live bugs and make a bug collection (using stickers for some). Join us to discover the insects that inhabit our campus!

Batter Up! Softball Camp

Converse Valkyries softball players will lead campers through basic softball skills. Campers will learn hitting skills such as stance improvement and generating power, and pitching skills such as motions, release points, and the importance of communication with the catcher. Campers will work on defensive skills for fielding ground balls, pop-flies and relay throws. Instructors will also discuss base running skills such as stealing and lead offs. Campers will learn about nutrition and conditioning and the importance of these for players.

Spy Kids

Create a fake ID and join us on a week of sleuthing! We will be learning detective skills as we make an undercover book to hide our secrets, dust for fingerprints, navigate through an obstacle course, send messages in invisible ink, and much more! We will learn the elements of any good mystery as well. If you love gathering clues and solving mysteries, this is the camp for you!

Summer Soccer Series

Back by popular demand! Summer soccer at Spartanburg Day School is a great chance for players of all skill levels to experience soccer, have fun and enjoy playing the beautiful game. Our wonderful coaches will ensure your soccer star will enjoy attending and develops a passion for the game that will last a lifetime.

Incredible Inventors

Learn, play, experiment! This camp explores connections between science, technology, engineering, and innovation. Campers will learn about inventors and create their own designs and prototypes. Daily challenges inspire campers to bring their own ideas to the table, think big, persevere, and get to the heart of what it means to be an inventor.

Lego Mindstorms EV3

This camp will provide students with STEM focused hands-on activities to promote 21st century skills as well as design engineering and computer science. Each day students will participate in team-building activities and opportunities for physical activity. Campers will participate in daily challenges that will help them develop skills and knowledge to complete the culminating project.

Coach Gregg Nibert's Camp of Champs

Kindergarten-3rd: 9 a.m.-noon (campers will attend another camp session in the afternoon from 1-4)

Join Coach Gregg Nibert for his Camp of Champs focusing on developmental skills! Campers will learn techniques related to shooting, passing, dribbling, rebounding, and a host of defensive skills. They will have the opportunity to play one on one and three on three. Campers will enjoy playing games and participating in contests as they learn the skills necessary to succeed in basketball.

Kindness Camp

Campers will learn all about the needs of others in our community. They will volunteer at a local food bank, serve meals at the local soup kitchen, and work in SDS’s own food pantry that serves the Little Free Food Pantry. Each day, campers will learn more about those in our community who need a helping hand.

Ooey, Gooey Science

Campers will enjoy all the fun experiments their moms won’t let them try at home! They will make homemade elephant toothpaste, slime, giant bubble snakes, write secret messages with invisible ink, and launch film canisters! Campers will learn all about soil as each scientist builds his or her own wormery.

Join us in the magical, icy world of Frozen! Campers will play Frozen inspired games, create icy crafts as they learn a bit of science, and cook up snacks Olaf would love. One of the Frozen princesses will make a special guest appearance!

Box Town Builders

Campers will use gigantic boxes to create their own town and all the building structures on the street front. They will learn about the important features of towns as they decide what to include in their very own town. Every member of our community plays an important role, and campers will learn all about the contributions of every member.

We would love to introduce your little ones to the German language through games, songs, and hands-on activities! It is just the perfect age to introduce them to a foreign language and tap into their ability to learn it in a natural and playful way with other buddies!

Join us for adventure on the high seas! The captain and her crew will help campers create lots of fun crafts, including personal treasure boxes and maps. There will be a dress up day and campers will play fun games such as Walk the Plank. Campers will search for treasure and learn about the history of real-life pirates!

Lego’s STEAM Park Carnival is based on games and rides you might find at a carnival. Each day, students will explore one aspect of the week’s theme, incorporating STEM, art, music, literacy, and physical activity as well as important skills like teamwork. At the end of the week, students will work together to create a carnival with games and rides.
