Great schools go above and beyond what’s expected. Gifts from alumni, parents and friends have enabled Spartanburg Day School to exceed expectations for more than 60 years, thus providing a superior educational experience for our students.
There are many ways to support Spartanburg Day School: by giving to the annual fund, by making a major gift, or by including the school in your estate plan. Know that your gift—whether large or small—makes a big difference. Your support signifies your belief in this incredible learning community.

The Annual Fund is Spartanburg Day School's most important source of revenue other than student tuition and contributes to every part of the school’s operation. It allows us to keep our classes small, enables flexibility in programming, provides our students with state-of-the-art technology and offers financial aid for deserving students. In brief, these funds are used to run the school.
Planned giving is a long term approach. Planned gifts range from life-income gifts, to bequests, to creative arrangements using retirement-plan benefits.
Some donors choose to make an outright gift of assets such as stocks, bonds or property. Making a planned gift may allow you to give more than you ever thought possible and at the same time benefit from tax advantages or income for a term of years of life.
If you decide to support Spartanburg Day School through planned giving, you will become a member of the Captain Pennell Society.
Established through the generosity and foresight of the school’s founders, the endowment is comprised of endowed funds and endowed scholarships. These are supported by trustees, alumni, parents, faculty and friends of the Spartanburg Day School.
These gifts not only support current programs, they fund the growth of the school and help provide excellence in education for future generations. To establish an endowment fund or scholarship, a minimum of $25,000 acquired over a five-year period is required.
Please contact Mimi Killoren, Director of Giving at 864-582-8380 ext. 2015 or email@example.com for more information about endowed funds.
Capital gifts support both endowment and capital projects. While endowment gifts secure the future of the school, capital improvement gifts enable us to either renovate our existing spaces or build new facilities.
Please contact Mimi Killoren, Director of Giving at 864-582-8380 ext. 2015 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information about capital gifts.
Commemorate your family's Spartanburg Day School experience by creating a personalized brick to be placed in the Dr. Wallace Taylor Courtyard. This courtyard, located in between Presnell and the Milliken Lobby, is a popular studying spot for both middle and upper schoolers alike.
All bricks are 4 x 8 in size and the cost is $100. You may choose a single name, a family name or an honorary or memorial name.
Please contact Mimi Killoren, Director of Giving at 864-582-8380 ext. 2015 or email@example.com if you are interested in purchasing a brick.
As parents of two SDS children, we give because, in the six years we have spent at Spartanburg Day School, we have seen firsthand the impact of the educational experience our girls receive. The curriculum advances their inquisitive nature, supports their individuality, and encourages both of them to take personal responsibility for their learning.
