Bob Boyle

Bob Boyle brings a unique journey to the Upper School physics classroom. With a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (1993) and an M.S. in Mathematics (2021), he has transitioned from engineering to education with a passion for making physics come alive for his students.
Bob's teaching centers on one core belief: students learn best when they can see physics in action. Rather than treating concepts as abstract theories, he emphasizes experiments and demonstrations that visualize physical principles. Students experience rocket launches, projectile motion labs, fruit drop experiments, and kinematic graphing activities that transform complex concepts into memorable learning experiences.

"I want students to actually see the subject come alive," Bob explains. His classroom becomes a laboratory of discovery where students witness physics principles firsthand.
Though new to teaching high schoolers, his diverse background in engineering and mathematics brings fresh perspective and real-world connections to physics education.

Since 2012, Bob has volunteered with Girls On the Run, supporting young women in building confidence through athletics. He has completed two Ironman Triathlons (2015 and 2018), demonstrating the same persistence he encourages in his students.

Bob Boyle is the definition of a  passionate educator who transforms how students see the world around them, one experiment at a time.
